What information do we collect?

We currently collect and process the following information:

  1. Account Information

After MapScratched’s sign up process, you voluntarily give us certain information to setup your account including Name, Username, Email address and/or Mobile phone number which are required fields. Further information can be added at the individual user’s discretion.

  1. Non-Personal Information

Non-personally identifiable information that we collect and process about you and your use of the Services include:

  • ‍Log Data - We may use third party services such as Firebase and Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyze this type of information (e.g. operating system, internet browser, and other “Meta Data”) in order to improve our Services. These third-party Services providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information‍
  • ‍Cookie Data – “Cookies” are pieces of data on your mobile device or computer tied to information about you which recognize you as a return user and help us to provide a more relevant experience for you. When we use cookies, we may use either “session” cookies (that last until you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (that last until you or your browser delete them). If you decline to accept cookies you may not be able to use all the Services provided by this app.
  • Location Information – We may use and store information about your location (e.g. country and city of residency) added at the individual user’s discretion. Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • Continue to improve MapScratched’s platform and services.

  • Help friends, family and other contacts find you on MapScratched.

Note that all of the information we collect goes towards making MapScratched a more relevant and engaging experience for our users.

We use the information that you have given us in order to improve users’ experience in the platform, recommend you relevant content that match your interests, and respond to any feedback and reports or bugs.

We may share aggregated non-personally identifiable information with advertisers, third party companies or individuals to process personal information on our behalf based strictly on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

We may also share your personal information when you’ve chosen to link your account to external Services (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.); to comply with Law regulation against fraud, security or technical issues; and in the event of business transfers and transitions.

How do we store your personal information?

Your information is securely stored.

We keep account and non-personal information until service termination or a year after service inactivity. We will then dispose your information by erasing your account and non-personal information from our storage and databases.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by any websites or services linked to or from our Services, including the information or content contained within them. Please remember that when you navigate away from our Services to another third-party website or Services, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Security of your information

Your account information is verified by your email address or mobile number. To prevent unauthorized access to your account, we recommend you limit access to your mobile phone and/or email address (this includes password protecting, Multi-factor authentication, and restricting the number of people who can use/access your devices and accounts).

We implement commercially suitable administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect the security of your information both online and offline. Whilst we take precautions against possible security breaches, we cannot guarantee unauthorized access, hacking, data loss or other breaches will never occur.

 

Our Policy on Children's Information

MapScratched is not intended for use by children under the age of 14 and does not knowingly collect or solicit information from anyone under the age of 14. No one under the age of 14 is authorized to submit any information, including personally identifying information, to MapScratched. We are not liable for any damages that may result from a user’s misrepresentation of age. Parents or legal guardians of children under 14 cannot agree to these terms on their behalf.

If you learn that a minor has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us and we will reasonably try to erase such information from our records as quickly as possible though we can give no assurance that we are able to do so.

 

Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to amend or change our Privacy Policy from time to time, using the process of modifications set forth in our Terms of Use. The most current version of our Privacy Policy will always be posted on our website. If the revision, in our sole discretion, would adversely affect you we will try to give you notice where practical. Please be aware that if you continue to use MapScratched after we post any modifications to our Privacy Policy this means that you accept the changes to our Privacy Policy.
